Preparation before getting into the car

Adjusting the seat position: Once you are in the driver's seat, the first thing you need to do is adjust the position of the seat. Locate the seat adjuster, usually under or to the side of the seat. Push the seat forward or backward so that your feet rest naturally on the pedals and your knees remain bent when the pedals are pushed down to the floor, a bending angle of around 120 - 130 degrees is generally recommended. At the same time, adjust the height of the seat to ensure that you have a good view of the front of the car and the surrounding road conditions.

Adjust the steering wheel position: The steering wheel of some Golf cars can be adjusted up and down and forward and backward. By adjusting the position of the steering wheel, so that when you hold the steering wheel with both hands, your arms can bend naturally, and the angle between your arms and the edge of the steering wheel is usually around 90 - 100 degrees, so that you can comfortably maneuver the steering wheel during the driving process.

Check mirrors: Adjust the interior mirrors so that you can see clearly through them to ensure that the view out the rear window is maximized. For the outside mirrors, adjust them so that you can see the side of the body and a portion of the traffic behind you. Generally speaking, the field of view of the left and right outside mirrors should be able to cover the portion of the lane on both sides behind the vehicle.

Basic Driving Operations

Starting the vehicle: Insert the car key or press the start button (one-touch start for some Golf Car models). For key start, insert the key into the ignition switch and then gently turn the key to the start position while depressing the clutch (for manual models) or the brake pedal (for automatic models), and then release the key when you hear the sound of the engine starting. For models with one-touch start, simply make sure the gear is in P (automatic) or neutral (manual), simultaneously depress the brake and press the start button to start the vehicle.

Gear Operation (Manual): Golf manual models have multiple gears, typically including 1 - 5 and reverse. After starting, depress the clutch and put the gear into 1st gear, then slowly release the clutch while lightly pressing the gas pedal and the vehicle will start to move forward. When shifting gears, select the appropriate gear according to the vehicle speed and engine speed. Generally speaking, when the engine speed reaches about 2000 - 2500 rpm, you can upshift, e.g. from 1st gear to 2nd gear. Downshifting is done when the vehicle speed decreases, e.g. when the vehicle speed decreases and the engine jerks. Shift to the target gear quickly and accurately by depressing the clutch.

Gear Operation (Automatic): Automatic golf carts usually have gears such as P (Park), R (Reverse), N (Neutral) and D (Forward). After starting the vehicle, switch the gear from P to D. Release the brake and the vehicle will slowly move forward. If you want to reverse the vehicle, put the gear into R. Be careful to switch gears after the vehicle has come to a complete stop. When driving, D is generally sufficient for most driving needs. Some automatic models also have an S (Sport) gear, which can be shifted to S when more power is needed, such as for overtaking.

Steering Wheel Operation: Hold the steering wheel with both hands in the correct position, generally with both hands at the “3 o'clock” and “9 o'clock” positions of the steering wheel. During driving, turn the steering wheel smoothly and slowly. For example, when turning, judge the angle and curvature of the curve in advance and turn the steering wheel appropriately according to the speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle speed is faster, turn the steering wheel amplitude should be smaller; when the vehicle speed is slower, the turning amplitude can be appropriately larger.

Brake and gas pedal operation: When driving a golf cart, control of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal is critical. The brake pedal is used for slowing down and stopping, when it is necessary to slow down, gently step on the brake pedal and control the strength of the brake as needed. For emergency stops, press down hard on the brake pedal. The gas pedal is used to control the speed and power output of the vehicle, lightly pressing the gas pedal can make the vehicle accelerate slowly, and pressing hard will make the vehicle accelerate quickly. During driving, control the brake and gas pedal reasonably according to road conditions and traffic rules.
